Memories Of Place

My memories have always been strongly influenced by color.  When I travel, the colors of the land stay with me and form my strongest memories of place and time. I also like to incorporate found objects within my art, as I believe that these objects also hold a memory within them. Old maps are often a favorite as I feel they capture the land at a certain moment, a land that has since changed but remains thesame  in my memory.

I am fascinated in exploring the connection between the layers of materials and the layering of memories. With each layer old memories are rediscovered and new relationships and questions emerge. My memories weave, layer and bury my experiences deeply with in. I am always amazed when a small glimpse of a color, a found object, an old letter or some other fragment can transport me back to a long forgotten place and time.
